As the end of the year fast approaches, if you’re like most people, wondering “where did that year go”, you might also be thinking “next year i’m going to fulfill my resolutions”… just like you did in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and then again this year… What’s the problem with ‘New Years Resolutions’ that we have such a hard time sticking to? We start the year out enthusiastic, excited and roaring to achieve all the things you might not have been able to do the year before, OR your ideas and visions changed so you’ve got new ‘plans’ and ‘goals’ you want to put on your new years resolution checklist…. FANTASTIC…. I’m SO happy to hear you’ve got goals, you’re driven, ambitious or are looking to improve your life one way or another, kudos to you, I think it’s amazing, truly. But what happens at the end of January and those eating habits you said you’d improve haven’t begun yet? Or that excercise regimen hasn’t really ‘stuck’ yet. Sorry i’ve gone straight to those things, but they’re the most popular… Women (and Men) feeling they’re not good enough and want to make a change. There are so many others, whats usually on your NYR Checklist? Are they the same resolutions you’ve had for the past 5 years, maybe more? If so, you NEED these 3 things to ensure you achieve every single one of your NYR’s from now on and take flight to create a truly successful life!!!
- Never Make A New Years Resolution Ever Again!!!
Are you thinking WHAAAT? That doesn’t make any sense?? Hear me out.
The one problem with NYR’s, is that we have a hard time sticking to them, for a multitude of reasons. We don’t like something so we say “in the new year” I’ll make a change. This goes along with the ‘goal’ of a new diet or other daily lifestyle changes, we start, feel great, stays that way for a couple of a few days, then we mess up or don’t follow it for a day, beat ourselves up for not sticking to it then tell ourselves “i’ll start again on Monday”…. Sound familiar?
What’s the problem with this? It’s a cycle, a repeating pattern, one which will ALWAYS be the same unless you do something different. The quote “you can’t start the next chapter if you continue reading the last one” comes to mind or “if you wa
2. DECIDE On Something You Want To Do, And JUST DO IT.. Don’t Wait For Monday!
When you want to make a change in your life, be it healthier lifestyle choices or change career, do something you’ve always wanted to do, start a new hobby, whatever it is, DON’T WAIT FOR MONDAY!!!! Don’t wait for the New Year to begin, if you do, and you don’t start it at the beginning of the year, you’ll waste a whole year or however many months telling yourself “next year, i’ll do it in the New Year, then i’ll be ready”…. NEWSFLASH… if you wait until you’re ready, you’ll NEVER be ready, as Nike says “JUST DO IT”.
The video clip from Art Williams came to mind as I wrote that… A must watch for what I’m talking about… the clip is here: it goes for 20 minutes but seriously, truly inspirational, motivational and empowering…. a video you can’t forget!!
If you’re trying to make a change and you stumble and make a fall or ‘miss a day’ or whatever, it doesn’t matter, it’s all part of the process, just start again the next day… DON’T WAIT FOR MONDAY, it’s a bad habit I’m sure ALL of us have picked up along the way at one time or another, but a habit which must be broken. Get out of the habit of saying “I’ll start again on Monday” and just try again tomorrow, don’t beat yourself up about it though, you’re human (I think).
3. Devote The Time To Be The New You
Chances are, if you want to make a change or plan on setting NYR’s, you’re ambitious, driven, unhappy with something in your life and seeking to improved the quality of your life and that itself is AMAZING!!! Change is great, if you’re not growing you’re dying (just like a tree), life is to be lived to the fullest and it really is what you make of it. It doesn’t matter what you’ve experienced in your life, what you’ve been through, we ALL have a story, it only matters what you do with your story that counts. You can be the victim of your past, or you can stand tall and say “my past does not define my future”.
If you want to change your life, start with YOU. Happiness is a choice and it is yours and ONLY your responsibility, your happiness does not rely on anybody else and I’m so thrilled to find SO much positivity and inspiration on social media now (which is where we spend so much time) so if you want to be inspired, seek inspiration, if you want to be empowered, seek empowering authors, or people, or music, or mentors. Look around you? What and who surround you? Do they make you want to be a better you? ARE YOU the YOU you want to be? (that was a mouthful!) If you’re not the You you want to be, only YOU can change that. (That’s a lot of You’s…. sorry! but i’m sure you get the point!)
No matter what it is you want to achieve, it is ultimately YOU and nobody else who will get you there. Take the time to invest in yourself, if I can give you one little gold nugget (Thanks Jan) it would be to invest in yourself and your own personal development and growth, a change in mindset. We truly don’t know what we’re capable of until we extend ourselves outside our comfort zone and do the things we’re scared of, or push past fears and go into the unknown. “Life happens outside your comfort zone”, take life by the gonads and say, no shout…. “LET’S DO THIS”.
Life doesn’t happen to you, it happens FOR you. Don’t wait for things to come to you, go and get them !!
Don’t make resolutions – let the new year be a Revelation:
“I’ll never make a new years resolution EVER again”.
Wishing Each and everyone a Safe, Happy and Prosperous New Year. 2017 is going to be an incredible year full of abundance, how do I know? Because I said it’s going to be, I’m choosing to have an amazing year! Please drive safe on the roads if you’re travelling throughout the festive season (and always) but be safe, many people love you and it’s better to get somewhere late, than not at all!!
